SOUTH BAY MUSIC ASSOCIATION
CREATING A LIFETIME OF MUSIC FOR THE COMMUNITY
For 15 years SBMA has provided a financial support umbrella by which the ESHS Band Parents and Students
have been able to donate and fundraise for the stellar Eagle band program. In those years over $1,000,000 has
flowed through SBMA and directly back to the ESHS Band program, via direct purchases, donations, and support.
As of September 25, 2024, we announce that the ESUSD District and ESHS Administration have
worked out a way to bring management of the ESHS Band finances back "in-house" to the District.
SBMA will no longer be providing these services. It has always been our goal to see
the District be in a position to take back these operations.
We are proud of the 15 years we have provided this support in collaboration with all the band directors and parents.
We wish the best of luck to the Eagle Band, students, parents, director, and staff! Eagle Pride!!!

How Does SBMA Keep the Music Playing?
South Bay Music Association is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation which provides financial support for all of the music teachers in El Segundo. The funding is provided through a mini-grant program established due to COVID-19.
Value of Music to Our Students
Students that play musical instruments are shown to be high achievers in school and often display extraordinary self-discipline and a greater appreciation for their education.
Funding
Funded by the generosity of your ongoing donations that continue to keep the music playing.
SBMA Provides Support to
El Segundo Music Teachers
The South Bay Music Association provided over $5000 in mini-grant funding to support music instruction in the El Segundo School District. Each music teacher in the District submitted a request for funding to assist with instruction due to COVID-19.
Two rounds of grants were approved by the SBMA Board during the 2020-2021 school year. The grants provided funding to the Elementary, ESHS and Middle School band programs to assist in purchasing equipment and music specific to how the class may operate under the COVID-19 restrictions. In addition, SBMA provided funding to hire monthly guest instructors to give the students extra assistance in learning their instruments. The Board is planning to continue this type of mini-grant support in future years.
The arts, and especially music, are a necessity to a well-rounded education. This is not only because music helps create better students and employees, but also because the human soul depends on emotional and artistic expression to balance its existence. Now is the time for dreamers, or ‘artistic types,’ to help with innovative ways to make our schools operate and provide the level of opportunity the students deserve.
It takes a village for this to succeed, and you are our village. We appreciate your support of this COVID-19 Music Education Outreach Program. Any amount will help us continue this initiative.
